This image was taken at an abandoned wasteland. Inspired by Thomas Struth's symmetrical and deserted elements in his photographs to compose this image.
Thomas Struth also doesn't like much contrast in his images, so I bumped my contrast down. Which is the opposite of what I would usually do in my black and white images.
Good idea on focusing on nature rather than the streets Struth photographed with this concept. I especially love the negative space on the left between the horizon line and the lines leading to the vanishing point... its even more notiable because of the snow contrasting with the grass (if you tilt your head wides ways, it looks like a wonky 'W'). You don't see such negative space like that because buildings are usually filling that space up. I hope you know what I mean!
Beautiful lighting and I really like the lower contrast as the subject matter is powerful enough and doesn't require extra amounts of contrast. Great Technique!!
Very striking image! There is really a strong feeling of majesty and serenity coming from this nature scene. The contrast in the clouds also looks remarkable.
I love the concept behind this photograph. I do get a sense of abandonment and depth. Quite pleasant!

I feel like that road leads somewhere very cool.

What does that sign on the tree say?

ReplyDeleteI agree with Imogen, low contrast was definitely the way to go. The detail you captured in the shadows and highlights is superb.
