Task #3- Alex DeMelo

I was inspired by Alex Prager for this work. At first, I was EXTREMELY exited to give my own spin on her work, but my dreams got crushed (slightly) when I remembered that it looks like Eight Below outside. Her work is nostalgic, and summery. Two hard concepts to grasp considering the most nostalgic thing in my life in gameboy color (no "u") and the groundhog lied about there being two more weeks of winter. Anyways, I tried my best to copy her aesthetically. I read in an interview that she uses wigs for all of her models, which I found very interesting, because she is not concerned at all with presenting a model naturally, but instead exactly to her vision, which I respect. I put my own spin on her work in a more awkward, less colourful way. Not sure which colour to make the top, any suggestions? What do you think? Am i spanning too many decades with the coca-cola, persian rug, chihuahua combo?

  1. I like that you went in a different direction from her work! It's really natural, and simple. This is just so something i'd do.. just lay on the floor for hours!
I think the green top works the best, makes you pop out in contrast to the red and very busy patterned carpet. Over all love this!

  2. i like the bottom one best - your pose is much more dynamic. the only thing i would do is make this a tighter crop by taking out the box at the very top. it brings the focus more to you and the dog and may help guide the eye a little better. otherwise i think this is a pretty good image, i love the colour theory going on here.

for the shirt colour, i wouldnt change it to green because i like how all the colours match so perfectly. if you wanted to change it, i would go in a black or white direction, or change the shade a bit of a lighter red.

  3. Hi Alex

Do you have any without the boxes? Not sure how well they are working. They seem more a distraction than a helpful addition. I would go with the green dress image minus the boxes. A nice body language in that one. Good work.
